A 5-year-old was hospitalized late Friday after an accidental shooting, deputies say.
Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 4900 block of Horseshoe Circle about 9:20 p.m., according to a statement from Sgt. Glen Rahn.
Deputies learned that an adult was in the yard with a gun when he heard what he believed to be a coyote. The gun was fired accidentally, and the child was grazed on the head by the bullet, Rahn said.
The child was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
